Adepta Sororitas - Order of the Ashen Veil

Jumping back in time to the release of the daemon hunter codex in 2003 (gosh that's a long time ago😵), I said to my gaming group I will start a sororitas force the day GW made them in plastic.

And to be honest, I kinda lost hope it would happen one day, until 2 years ago following the first massive survey they ran and so many people ask for the release of plastic sisters.

Two years is a long time to keep your motivation and interested, I went back and forth on them not knowing if I really wanted to start a new army after painting my primaris. 

But in the end the miniatures where so nice and so much to my liking, I couldn't help myself. 

Not everything is perfect, but after the very flat primaris, I happy to return to something that is much more 40k for me, much more grim dark.

After this decision, I had to debate with myself, whether to go for one of the main order or to do something different. I really loved the bloody rose but I didn't want to paint another red army. 

I decided to challenge myself to try something new and different from my usual painting. 

I choose a yellowish bone armour, with a bright dark blue to contrast, the colours are opposite on the colour wheel.

Since the armour has a yellow tint, I choose to do the metallic in old cooper to have different tone,

Following my brainstorming, I quickly went to work on a test subject.

For the base, I tried to represent a luxurious planet similar to catachan or naboo with the ruin of ancient temple where the sororitas are sent to bring the population to the imperium.

I know a few of people aren't convinced with them, but the universe is vast 😜

Next I started working on my first squad, so many details and a few more textures and colours to decide. And learning how to do marble, since I haven't done any marble in like 15 years.

I'm really like the look of the squad, though in the end, I choose not to do the order symbol at the bottom of the cloak and corrected my test model.

I needed a HQ and what better hq than the canoness, the original and only sororitas leader !

I made a small modification to the miniature since I wasn't a fan of the original head, I used one of the sequitors head from AoS instead.

Since I've got the army box and received a few kit for my birthday, may more are coming but those miniatures takes times so, you'll have to be patient to see the rest 😝

[Showcase] Primaris Librarian and Inceptors squad

Hello dear readers,

It has been some times since my last post, I wasn't very inspired to write so I wrote nothing…
Even in this state, the blog received quite a few visits daily since we’re closing on 50’000 visits!
So, thank you for your interested!

Just to be clear, I haven’t stop painting, but I’ve been building a lot of stuff, meaning I had nothing to show really.

My head is a bit all over the place between the conversion I have in mind, what I’m painting and what I’m planning, but I’m hoping to write some article on a few conversions I have in mind.

Since it will be the first of this kind, I’ll gauge the interest with the visit the article receives 😊

It’s time to show you my latest entry for my Knights of the Chalice army, first here is my second HQ and I should finally be able to deny the witch to my friend master of possession (I’m not annoyed, not at all…)

Here is brother epistolary Ymael, attached to the second company of the Knights

I had to come up with an (almost) completely new scheme for this guy, librarians are usually blue, but I choose to paint the cloak red to be reminiscent of the rest of the army, I’ll do the same for my future chaplain and apothecary. Really happy with the result. 

I had some fun doing some freehand around the cloak before hiding it behind the weathering… yeay!
I didn’t know what to paint on the knee pad, I settled on the rank and quickly painted a little half skull on it. Job done! 

Since the spear is a force weapon, I wanted to have a different kind of glow than the usual power weapon, went for a reddish/pinkish tone with the power coming from the shaft, hence the white glow at the bottom.
The glowing eyes and hand were also something new, I let you judge if it’s successful or not.

Latest addition was the little special effect on the base, after reading Mephiston book and the description of the different spells, I tried to replicate the use of the blood of the enemies to power my librarian.
The blood going up is a mix of brass wire and fishing line with a drop of glue at the top, covered with blood for the blood god from gw, a hole was pierced on the base to hold the wire better.

For those curious, the weapon is from conversionworld.de, they have a very nice selection of weapons for the different legion the cast are very crisp and the guy running the shop is very friendly!

Next up is the inceptors squad Erasmos!

I really like this kit though one of the members has a really strange position.
No conversion on this squad, I just made some higher base to get rid of those horrible transparent holders.

Painting wise, it’s probably not my best squad, I had some troubles doing the right zenithally light regarding the position of the miniatures but at least they done.
The sooth was made by dry-brushing black paint around the exhaust.
Oh yes, you can’t see them, but I still painted the exhaust with a plasma effect, the little details…

The resurgence of Sylvaneth is gaining my interested more and more, you may see some news on this front, who knows!

Primaris Knight of the Chalice - HQ

Back from holidays, time to present you the pride and joy of my legion and reaper of glorious deeds on the battlefield, the HQ!

You have to use your imagination and please don't think they eat the dust almost every game, no for real 😅

Captain Beshop in gravis armour

Let's start with the captain in gravis armour, who's also my chapter master, leader of the host of angels, Captain Beshop of the 2nd company!

The conversion is based on the gravis captain from dark imperium, to make him more impressiv and follow the little fluff we have in the blood angels codex, I added some wings and an axe from the sanguinary guard kit and a reaver head.

The result is an imposing warrior which exult aggression (I think so though, feel free to disagree, mistakes are human 😝).

The painting is the same as the first few intercessors, I just took more times for the details and stuff considering his rank.

I had a blast painting the power weapon, choosing a greenish-blue to contrast with the red of the armour and adding small blue lightning around the energy cells to give a nice osl.

The basecoat is arphen jade scale 75 highlighted with emerald from vallejo then add some white, shaded with black only, all brush since I was too lazy to take out the airbrush again.
The lightning is painted with marine blue ink glaze and the lightning are drawn with white and blending in the basecoat with

If you look really closely, you should be able to see his red eyes representing him fighting the red thirst.

On the battlefield, I play him using the power axe profile, nobody mind since the axe is usually worst 
than the sword.

I present this guy first but, I painted him after the two lieutenants that follows.

Next are the lieutenant from dark imperium also, minor conversion for theses, I just added the little bling on the backpack to make them easier to see on the battlefield, we're no alpha legion, we don't hide !

Nothing special on them, I'll present how I paint my faces in another article though this one was really fun to do. I added a white stripe on them to represent their rank.

Really cool miniature considering it's a boxed set, the only thing I don't really like is the captain bolter gloves which look a bit bland considering the gauntlet of the aggressors squad.
